Prominently located at the south-west corner of Oak Park Avenue and Lake Street, in Oak Park, Illinois, Scoville Square is a 4+ story, 72,000 square foot National Register Building with first floor retail space and office space on the upper floors.
Built in 1905 by the Scoville Family, a founding family of Oak Park, and designed by E. E. Roberts, Scoville Square is rich in architectural detail as well as history. One of the few examples of Prairie-style architecture applied to a commercial building, Scoville Square's impressive lobby features a monumental oak staircase, marble wainscoting and leaded art glass windows. The building was originally home to the Masons and then to Gilmore's Department Store for 60 years.
As the Cornerstone of Oak Park's Hemingway District Commercial center for nearly a century, Scoville Square embodies the richness of Oak Park's architecture, history and civic pride while offering the convenience of modern amenities.
